I was thrilled to win this book at the Goodreads Commencement Reads giveaway programme. In fact I was likewise excited to wait for it to make it and and then I read another like book by the same author called Discovering Slap-up Artists: Hands On Art for Children in the Styles of the Great Masters:http://www.goodreads.com/book/bear witness/38...
Both of these books are outstanding and I meet the writer has other similar books also. When this book arrived, I ended up putting down all my other currently reading books and read the whole thing, and I actually enjoyed it.
This book includes so many of my favorite American artists (Ansel Adams, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Mary Cassatt, Edward Hopper, and then many others; I detest to fifty-fifty mention any as I'm leaving out so many others who are included) and also artists that kids are likely to enjoy such equally Wayne Thiebaud (I beloved him) and Andy Warhol (not so much.)
The book is designed for kids ages iv-12 to acquire almost the many artists featured and to create art in the aforementioned style or using the aforementioned media, without at all diminishing the opportunity for inventiveness for the young artists.
This is a perfect volume for adults and immature adults who work with children equally tutors, teachers, group leaders, counselors, parents, babysitters, etc. etc. It's a cracking volume to utilize with those children who are interested or not all the same interested in fine art and artists.
The book is very well laid out so that information technology's like shooting fish in a barrel to choose appropriate and interesting projects. The artwork (of the featured artists and of children) and the photos are terrific.
The book features artists and an instance/examples of their work and it generally goes in chronological order. There'due south a lot of interesting data about all the artists including a birthday agenda at the back of the book.
Each artist unremarkably gets ii book pages. On each at that place are icons that requite data about the featured project.
The icons are:
child experience
adult program & prep
art technique (such as depict, paint, dirt, computer)
artist fashion (such as abstract, cartoonist, illustrator, installation fine art, potter, realist)
I could go on and on near all the artists (some I learned of for the offset time or learned new things about them) and the projects. These projects in general practice have a certain amount of time, just they wait well worth it. Unfortunately, most of the projects require a certain amount of supplies and nearly cost coin. I'd love to run into this volume and the needed supplies bachelor at schools and youth groups and camps, and ideally in homes, but I realize not every child is going to take piece of cake access to all. Luckily (as in the other book mentioned) some of the fine art projects require just a minimal amount of supplies that are bachelor to virtually every kid in some setting to which they have access.
I've known children interested in art but who struggle with reading and following directions, and this book would exist a great resource for them, allowing them to learn in a fun and effective way. I also accept known children who don't experience confident plenty to create art and this book could exist a help for these children also.
I am then grateful to own this volume. (The other book I borrowed from the library then unfortunately don't take information technology handy.) I wish my teachers and Camp Burn Girls leaders, and my parents had had a resource such equally this. Older kids can read this book on their own and can also do many of the projects on their own too.
